Like Father, Like Son

As you all may already know... since the womb, Koa has heard, breathed, lived tahitian drumming. Whether it was hearing it being played while I danced (and Koa did flips in the womb whenever I Tahitian danced!) or hearing Daddy play beats on my tummy, Koa has heard it. In fact, while I was pregnant with Koa, certain drum beats that Martin would play would lull me to sleep... surprisingly, those SAME beats would later on either calm a crying infant Koa or also lull him to sleep at night while in his crib. Awwwww :(

Today, Daddy let Koa have his first lesson... well at least attempt to. Our firecely independent son wanted to go at it on his own... without Daddy's help!!! Unfortunately, these drums (and sticks!) did not belong to us, but our friend Jerry's... so Koa, ended up having a fit. I think if we were to let him go at it, I bet he could easily beat out Bora Bora with the best of them. :)

Malia's First Bath

Poor Malia...
In the thrust of having a toddler and a husband that works real late, she's been having to take what she can get when it happens...

So, Malia's first bath, unfortunately was an impromptu one... not one that we got to plan and lay out like her big brother's. Upon spitting up all of the milk that she drank, and getting it into her left ear and her hair, Mommy immediately had to dunk her into the tub... luckily her belly button had fallen off already by this time!!

And because it was just Mommy and Malia, Mommy had to quickly grab her camera, whilst grabbing all the essentials she needed as fast as she could... all the while, having to take pics with one hand, while keeping the other on a flailing newborn in the tub.

I'm sorry Baby Malia, I know that you hated this bath, hopefully the rest of the baths that you will take will be better!!!

*P.S.* Don't laugh, but I added a "sticker" to Malia's girly parts... I don't want the backlash from her when she's older!!! :)

Pregnancy Photos for Malia

I know its a little late... yes, Malia is here already! But, obviously, its been a hectic few weeks- even prior to Malia's birth!

Trying to be the equal opportunist parents for each of our kids, we had Martomography (yay Uncle Tien!!) take our pregnancy photos for Malia, just as we had done for Koa.

And just like Koa, I'm about 36 weeks here, uncomfortable as ever- but grinning and bearing it all for the sake of fairness! :)

However, as you can quickly see, this shoot turned into a shoot for the Koa Man as well who was acting so adorable and hammy that day.

Welcome Baby Malia Kealoha Antenorcruz Vu!

She's FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!!!

Here is the breakdown on Malia's name:

Malia: pronounced muh-lee-yuh This name has multiple translations: Hawaiian for "Perhaps" or "Maybe", Hawaiian for "Calm" and also Hawaiian for "The Perfect One"... all three definitions fit for this little girl, in our eyes. "Perhaps/ Maybe" because she really was our little question mark during this pregnancy, but we never had a doubt that she would be strong and make it... which led us to "perfect one"- we knew she wasn't going to be perfect, but in our eyes, just having her make it through would be perfect enough... and "calm" to counter act her crazy brother, the antithesis to her name (Kekoa our "warrior")

Kealoha: pronounced kay-ah-low-ha Hawaiian for "The Grace". Story behind this, Martin wanted to give her the middle name of "Grace" because my parents named me "Grace" after having a scary pregnancy with me and almost losing me a few times during it. Since we had the same scares in our pregnancy with Malia, Martin felt it fit since she really was a "Grace" from God.

Fun Trivia: Daddy almost missed the entire birth!!! He came running in right when the doctor came running in!! Unfortunately Malia made such a quick appearance that Lola made it about 15 minutes after she made it into this world.

Koa is doing well as a big brother. At first he was a little weirded out by her as you will see in the pics below, but he's slowly adjusting!! This morning he gave his little sister a few kisses on the head! :)
